Support Trails Organizations

September 28, 2022 10:42 PM | Bryan Wesner (Administrator)

Hawkeye Bicycle Association is again supporting area trails and is encouraging its members to do the same.

At its August meeting the HBA board approved financial contributions to two area cycling organizations,

Linn County Trails Association (LCTA) and Linn Area Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA). The donations will not only include funding from the HBA treasury, but also donations from individual HBA members.

Here’s how it will work:

o HBA will donate up to $5,000 to match funds donated from members to LCTA.

o HBA will also match member donations to LAMBA, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $3,000.

o Members who donate to LAMBA and/or LCTA will receive 1 point per dollar up to 300 points. Donations are eligible for points until the October 16 annual meeting.

Contributions to LCTA will support three projects:

(1) Further development east of Waldo’s Rock on the Grant Wood Trail, which is paved to Waldo’s Rock.

(2) Planning for the 4th Street Trail that will extend trails between ConnectCR’s two projects.

(3) Planning for Lucore Road and a bridge in Marion for a safer bike route.

Contributions to LAMBA will support single-track trails in conjunction with the Sac and Fox Trail.

LAMBA’s current project is building a two-mile trail with one mile completed. There will be a continuous eight-mile trail when the entire project is complete.

When you contribute, please make your checks out to the appropriate organization (LCTAor LAMBA) but send your contribution to the

HBA post-office box address.
